Competition format

All registered teams will play a first and second round in groups of 3 and 4 (round-robin). After that, the best-ranked teams from the second round will compete in a final round; the other teams will play placement matches. The teams not playing at the time will provide the referees (one scorer and one referee).

Competition rules

In principle, the rules of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) apply. Games are played to the best of 3 sets (which means a game can end 2:0 or 2:1). Each set is played up to 21 points, except the 3th set up to 15 points. There must be a 2 points of difference. The interval between the sets will be no longer than 3 minutes. The teams are requested to report to the tournament director 30 minutes before their first match is set to begin. Mikasa VLS 300 balls with the ÖVV seal of quality will be used.

Scoring

The scoring within the group follows the points system (win 2 points; loss 0 points). In the event of a draw between two teams, the deciding factor is first the better set ratio, then the better point ratio.
