Petanque

Team tournament without divisions. The following events will be held: Doubles – a team consists of 2 players, each player throws 3 boules. Triples – a team consists of 3 players, each player throws 2 boules. The preliminary round is played with a time limit (50 minutes plus one additional jack), the final game is played to 13 points. The rules of the International Pétanque Federation (FIPJP) apply.

Competition format

Thursday, 23 June 2022, Doubles preliminaries:

5 rounds according to the Swiss system
Arrival and reporting to officials: 8–9am
Start: 9.30am
There will be a one-hour break after the second round.
End: approx. 5pm

Saturday, 25 June 2022, Doubles finals:

The 8 best teams from the preliminaries play one knockout round.
The two final games for 1st and 3rd place are played at the same time.
Start: 9am
End: approx. 1pm

Friday, 24 June 2022, Triples preliminaries:

5 rounds according to the Swiss system
Arrival and reporting to officials: 8–9am
Start: 9.30am
There will be a one-hour break after the second round.
End: approx. 5pm

Saturday, 25 June 2022, Triples finals:

The 8 best teams from the preliminaries play one knockout round.
The two final games for 1st and 3rd place are played at the same time.
Start: 1.15pm (possible delay depending on the duration of the final games)
End: approx. 5pm

Competition rules

Duration of qualifying rounds and knockout matches: 50 minutes plus one end. The final match is played to 13 points. When shooting at the endline, take the necessary precautions and mark the boules and jack if necessary.

Upon reporting to the officials on site, each team participating in the doubles competition will receive a lottery number after the first round draw; each team participating in the triplets competition will receive a lottery number after the first round draw. You keep the lottery number all day long. The result must be reported after the match. The captain of the winning team is requested to report the result immediately to the tournament director. Note: A new round may not start until all results have been reported!

After each round, there is a draw for the next round. At the counter, the teams can see on which track they are expected to play the next match.

Important information

The catering area will be open during the competition. Participants can go here for coffee, tea and other drinks, as well as sandwiches, soup, fries and a warm snack. Payment for all consumption is only possible with coins from the location. These can be purchased on site. Unused coins can be returned at the end of the day incl. refund. Payment can be made in cash or by debit card, with debit card payment preferred.

Important information

Please ensure that you have enough time to reach your sports venue. See this page for more information about transport during the ECSG Arnhem 2022.

Team leaders/players must report to the tournament management in order to be registered and to receive the required instructions/information min. 30 minutes before the first game. Players must be ready for the game at least 15 minutes before start. Games will be started at the planned time if the minimum number of players is present under the rule of the game. If the required number of players is not ready to play at least 15 minutes after the scheduled time, the team/players loose(s) the match.
